For a while i had been trying to get just a photo of an African Rail, but this elusive species had only shown glimpses of itself to me in the past. Over Easter at Marievale I had the first opportunity to get a shot of one, but a slip of the camera later, I had a lens in two parts and no chance of any further photos for the day.
I was thus chuffed this last Saturday, spending time at a little wetland just north of Brits to not only find one complying for a photo but four of them. The cherry on top was to capture two of them having it out.
