Morgenzon, a game farm bordering the Crocodile River, was established in 1868. The farm is situated in the Limpopo District, some 70 kilometres northwest of Thabazimbi, between two places called Makoppa and Rooibokkraal. Although a hunting farm, it offers good game viewing and excellent birding in a transition zone between Bushveld and Kalahari biomes.

The Zaagkuildrift road and Kgomo Kgomo area is one of Gautengs best birding areas, as the road provides for good bushveld birding along the Pienaars Rivier floodplain. In late summer when the floodplain is in spate, this becomes one of the most productive water and shorebird areas in the region.

Magoebaskloof and the surrounding areas of Tzaneen offer some of the best, if not the best afro-montane forest birding opportunities in the country. The area is not only good for birding and offers fantastic scenery with view over the Wolkberg and various waterfalls.

The reserve lies on the banks of the Great Letaba River just west of the Kruger National Park, and offers Mopane sandveld birding. Sadly the reserve is much neglected and game is very scarce. Due to low visitor numbers the birding however is excellent. ATKV Eiland Spa which borders the reserve has good birding within the resort and has access to river pathways.

The gallery is mainly focused on a farm along the Blyde River called South Hampton. Visits to the farm offered excellent riverine birding.

Bela Bela, formerly known as Warmbaths, is a small town nestled in the Waterberg in the Bushveld. A friend has a small game farm in the area, but visits to more know localities such as Mabula and Sondela is also worthwhile. Rankins Pass some distance out of town offers beautiful scenery and good birding.

Bokstoot farm is a small share-block farm to the north east of Bela Bela. Rich in habitat this are covers some good bushveld, riverine bush and stunning Waterberg sandveld on the plateau.

Lekkerleef is a small resort to the west of Bela Bela, set on the Waterberg Mountain slopes

Kameel Game Farm is situated in the Limpopo District, some 70 kilometers northwest of Thabazimbi, close to the Botswana border. The farm consists of dry Bushveld at the verge of the Kalahari basin and therefore has a good mix of Kalahari and Bushveld birding. Waterholes are scarce and become good stake-outs for birds and animals.

Mapungubwe National Park is situated at the far northern reaches of South Africa where Botswana Zimbabwe and South Africa meet. This is a park of landscapes and Boabap’s.
